SOFTWARE ENGINEER · MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA

Two decades in broadcast operations. Now I write the software.

I spent those years in ingest, playout, post-production and archive at Seven and Nine, then started building the software those teams needed. I work in C# and .NET, with FFmpeg underneath, on broadcast media files.

● NOW
BUILDING QueueSee, a media analysis tool for editors, engineers and archivists. It plays a file and shows what is inside it.
LEARNING How to build a video player from the ground up: decoding, audio sync and frame-accurate seeking, without a media framework doing the work.
OPEN TO Software engineering roles in media, broadcast or video technology. Melbourne or remote.

ABOUT

Broadcast operations knowledge and software engineering, in one person.

Engineers who build media software rarely come from the operations floor, and operators rarely get to build the tools they want. I have done both: two decades in ingest, quality control and archive, and in the last seven of those years the PowerShell, C# and .NET tools that automated the team's work.

The combination matters because most of the difficulty in media software is not the code. It is knowing what a file actually contains, what the person handling it needs from it, and where the existing tools quietly fall short. I bring that knowledge and the engineering to act on it.

IN SHORT

Two decades of broadcast experience, applied to software engineering.

Fewer wrong assumptions, and tools that fit the job.
